Rapopo Plantation Resort

This is a  review of the beautiful town of Kokopo and Rabaul. I have stayed at different hotels and lodges but my favorite would be Rapopo Plantation Resort. Rapopo used to be a coconut plantation that a German couple bought and turned it into a picturesque resort on the edge of pristine crystal clear waters looking across to Mt Tavuvur Volcano in Rabaul. More than 15+ years ago it was an ugly site spewing ash on Rabaul and Kokopo. Today it has quieten down a bit but it does have its moments. Rapopo Plantation Resort is 15 mins from Tokua airport and 5 mins from Kokopo town. An hidden gem tucked away behind coconut trees with majestic views looking across to Simpson Harbour in Rabaul. Every guest that comes to Rapopo gets the traditional welcome song with a lei put around their necks and a refreshing kulau (coconut) drink whilst you wait to get your rooms sorted out. Known for its sea food menu Rapopo's kitchen cooks up a storm of sea food galore that you cannot get enough of...

IWD Theme Embracing Equity

International Woman's Day is 1 week away from today (March 8) and as I sat pondering what exactly the theme means Embracing Equity I feel the meaning is very personal to each and every woman. It is not something that you put a meaning to and then everyone confirms to it. Every woman would have her own perception and identity of EMBRACING EQUITY. Equity is not equal as how it is defined it is fairness and justice and in so many ways we all see through difference lenses. How you define equity is based on your upbringing the various challenge's you go through in life and what has shaped you into becoming the woman that you are today. I will speak entirely in the context of woman as I feel we are so over shadowed by other genders in this space that the empowerment of woman is also lost in this international woman's day. For me embracing equity is about accepting that woman are different they all are very different in character in beliefs in thinking etcetc and they are all di...

Last November I spend a few days in this beautiful part of the Country. I went up for work but decided to take a day off and spend on the site and explore the surroundings. The confronting truth behind the carbon trade in Papua New Guinea | Four...

It has been a while since I last pen some words on my blog. I feel the passion to write again in my veins therefore my brains are figuring out what topic would I be penning my thoughts about?  I just came away from watching a documentary on 4 corners about Carbon Trading in PNG. Still a foreign concept and much is yet to be understood in this nation about this topic. PNG is plague by logging companies who come in and rape our virgin forest and loot whatever they can land their hand on and then leave our villagers in a much worst state than before. Now we have another lot of greedy foreign companies who are coming in this time, to exploit the people on their lack of knowledge and understanding of carbon trading and then leave them with a meagre income in the form of compensation. To the mind of an innocent village they feel logging gave them more tangible development than carbon trade which should not be the case. But because they are greedy much of what they get does not pass onto ...

Taking the Covid vaccine

Taking the vaccine seems to be the biggest challenge for every country on earth. There are so many earthizents who have their own opinion from so many conspiracy theories being release by people all over the world. Everyone of us is entitled to their opinion and the choice that they make. I was in that group I also had a lot of negative thoughts and so many questions but as I saw more and more people dying I realised that half the people who gave those theories are also fearful themselves. Most of what they wrote  is based on their assumptions and not on concrete evidence. In a developing nation like mine where you have lack of good hospital and medical services the risk of not taking the vaccine is high. If we want to  protect our population the safest way would be taking the vaccine. In fact as a Christian it took me months to pray about this and ask God to guide me in making the right choice. In fact God gave me the peace to do the right thing and to minimize the expo...

Dealing with Negative Emotions

We live in a world where everyday we have to interact with people. In this process of interaction we display a wide variety of emotions. Some display feelings of  happiness, other sadness, others anger and so on and so on. I particularly want to talk about handling negative emotions in a way that you over come them and move on to a better place. It is not an easy thing and I am guilty of a lot of times loosing my temper saying things that I regret saying hurting other people in the process and causing grieve I guess to those we love the most too.  Firstly we have to understand that we are humans and as humans we will always make mistakes, but we must be ready to say am sorry be ready to admit our faults and move on if and when we need to. Not everything will work out the way we want to. There will be times when things are beyond our control and we just dont know how to work it out. If we are too controlling then it literally makes it harder for us to deal with the situat...

Kindness is Magic

Been are long day today before I knocked off just smiling to myself reminiscing todays event. We all have our fair share of things that life throws at us.....Today I needed to go to VC to pick up some quotes so I went to Cool Stuff and ask the ladies there to give a quote for 10 phones. Typical shops they will pass you from one person to the next so the ladies at the counter directed me to another person who would take the details and ensure the quote is sent. So to save us both the time I gave her my business card and ask her if she could send the details to the address on the card. She got the card looked at me and looked at the card and asked me who should she attention it to. I said attention it to the name on the card, but she kept on looking at me wanting me to explain further I presume she thought I was carrying around someone else's card so I looked at her gave her my biggest smile and whispered quietly to her that the person on the card is me. The shocked that came over ...
