UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL

Image
This week has been rampage by the defence saga what has come out in this situation and highlighted to all of PNG was the high number of candidates recruited from one region alone as compared to the rest of the other regions. Our nation is so unique in the sense that our 4 regions represent such unique traditions, customs flora, fauna and even humans with each distinctive features and characters. When I grew up in the 80's our home was open to PNG. We went to church with PNG our church fasmily were like our own family, we played together, ate together prayed together worshipped together and did things as one people united by God and the beautiful nation we are in. My father and mother loved people from PNG so there was no nepotisim or prefering one province or region over the other. People from all walks of life and province and region had a plcae in out home. When I started work my views were the same. I had employees from PNG. I never choose one region over the other. Nor did I...

Bearing the Fruits of the Spirit

Image
As Christians, we are called to bear the fruits of the Spirit. Within us, the Spirit gives rise to two things: the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit. Today, I want to focus on the fruits of the Spirit. Just as a plant must be rooted in fertile soil, carefully tended and watered in order to produce fruit, so too must our spiritual lives be nurtured. And we don’t desire just a few fruits—we long for an abundant harvest. For example, if you plant a pawpaw tree, you don’t want only one or two pawpaws; you hope to see the tree overflowing with fruit. But for that to happen, the soil must be cared for, the plant must be watered, weeds must be removed, and fertilizer must be added. The same principle applies to our Christian walk. The soil of our hearts must be cultivated daily so that the Word of God can grow within us and produce an abundant harvest. This means praying regularly, reading Scripture, and learning what God’s Word says about our lives, our families, ou...

What to Pray when you disagree with your government

Image
A great article from KCM on how to pray for your government and the importance of praying for a nation. reposted from KCM Blog July 17, 2016 Prayer “How should I pray for the government?” That’s a question many Christians ask themselves. Sadly, when it comes to politics, generations of church people have said, “We’re just hoping this political party can fix this mess….” or “We’re just hoping and praying such-and-such a group can fix it.” Well, the politicians— are not God. They’re only here to govern, and the government cannot create or change anything permanently. Real change—whether in the political, economic or spiritual realm—only happens when the Church begins to pray and believe God. We’re the ones with real authority, and we’ve been given that authority by the Name of Jesus. The problem is, we haven’t known what to do with it. Pray for the Government by Giving Thanks When it comes to praying for the government, we first need to remember 1 Timothy 2:1-2. In these scriptures...

Memoirs of An Entrepreneur

Reflections on My SME Journey: Year Two As I near the end of my second year as an SME, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted. It demands resilience, patience, and twice the effort of a regular paycheck job. The road is tough, but every challenge has been a lesson in growth.  Lessons in Finance • Finance is the greatest hurdle. Moving from the security of a salary to creating your own income is stressful and requires discipline. • Be frugal. Spend only where it is necessary, not out of want. If it means living on tinned fish for a season, accept it—you are planting roots for bigger things to come. • Keep tight control of expenses in these early stages. Track profits monthly, review your biggest costs, and adjust wisely. If one month falls short, make it up in the next.  Clients & Opportunities • Keep searching for new clients. Some will stay, others will move on—release them with grace. • Always look for new opportunities. Don’t limit you...

Taking a Stock Take of Your LIFE

Image
Taking stock of your life is an act of self-reflection — a way to evaluate your current situation against your values and goals. It means pausing to look honestly at what’s working and what isn’t, then making a plan to adjust for greater fulfillment and alignment. For me, it has become a tradition to do a life stocktake every year and plan for the new one. What I love about this exercise is that it forces you to reflect on issues or incidents you might prefer to forget. More often than not, you face the very things you don’t want to confront. We all struggle to admit our mistakes and shortcomings; it’s easier to overlook, pretend, or deny reality. Yet the greatest treasures lie in those moments when we look matters in the eye — whether good or bad — and ask ourselves how we can respond better. That honesty frees us from fear and doubt. This year, take time to reflect on your goals. Did you achieve them? What challenges did you face, and how did they turn out? If the outcome was negat...

Ways to Make Your Home a No-Strife Zone

Image
Reposted from KCM    The devil hates agreement between Christians. The power of agreement opens the windows of heaven in our lives and closes the door to his destruction. That’s why he continually tries to disrupt that agreement by causing strife and division where people come together in the most powerful way: the family. You don’t have to take it! Here are 8 Ways to Make Your Home a No-Strife Zone. 1. Bite Your Tongue Did you know? The quickest way to reduce strife in your home is to bite your tongue! That’s right. You don’t have to say everything you think. Your words have a powerful ability to stir up strife in your home. So choose your words wisely.  Consider these verses from the English Standard Version: Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble (Proverbs 21:23). Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasio...

A Reflection on Corruption and Social Responsibility

Image
Fifty Years On: Time to Heal Our Nation from Corruption As we mark fifty years of our nation's journey, it is time we pause—not just to celebrate, but to reflect. We must confront a chronic sickness that has silently eroded our values and distorted our sense of right and wrong: corruption. Corruption is not just the grand theft of public funds. It begins in the small, everyday compromises—when we offer "cola money" to fast-track a process, when we pay for jobs or tenders, when we accept inflated payments without questioning the ethics behind them. These acts, seemingly harmless, are the roots from which systemic corruption grows. We have allowed corruption to infest every layer of our society. It has become so normalized that receiving thousands or millions for a job feels like a right, not a privilege or responsibility. But this is not success—it is a distortion of fairness and justice. Greed and Price Manipulation Our desire to accumulate more has led us to inflate pric...

Reflection: The Gift of Contentment

Image
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." — 1 Timothy 6:6–7 (NIV) In a world that constantly urges us to chase more — more success, more possessions, more recognition — the words of 1 Timothy 6:6–10 offer a quiet, powerful truth: true wealth is found not in accumulation, but in contentment rooted in godliness. We entered this world with nothing, and we will leave it the same way. This sobering reality invites us to loosen our grip on material things and instead hold tightly to what truly matters — our relationship with God, our character, and the peace that comes from a grateful heart. Contentment is not complacency. It’s not about giving up on dreams or settling for less. Rather, it’s about finding joy and peace in the present, even as we work toward the future. It’s the ability to say, “What I have is enough for today,” and to trust that God will provide for tomorrow. At the heart of contentment...

Choose Life

Image
Every day, we’re surrounded by visuals and literature that can either uplift us with inspiration and motivation or weigh us down with negativity and worry. In the midst of it all, we’re faced with choices: Do we absorb the opinions of others? Do we believe what people are saying? Which path should we follow? When your mind feels heavy with doubt and anxiety, one of the most effective things you can do is take it to God in prayer. Cast your fears, your worries, and your uncertainties onto Jesus. In doing so, you’ll begin to release the emotional burden and find peace. Remember, what you feed your mind shapes your character, your vision, and your perception of the world. If a thought is weighing you down, that’s a red flag — discard it. Choose instead to focus on what is positive. Surround yourself with uplifting friends and those who can help guide you toward your destiny. Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they ...

Can Faith in God help my business

Image
Reposting this article...... I follow Liz and Nigel Mane what they do so resonates with me and I trust it will bless you too as a Kingom Entrepreneur,,,, How Can Faith in God Help My Business Business and faith don't mix, right? According to census statistics from 2011 there are 37m Christians in the UK and of those 14% are self-employed, i.e. 5.18m. Quite a large number! So what's that got to do with anything? Well, the Bible says that God places the desires on our hearts and gives us the desire and power to please him (Philippians 2:13) Psalms 37:4 says 'Take delight in the Lord and he will give you your hearts desires'. You might be thinking, "well, this Bible stuff is all well and good but how does it help or change anything?" I've founded and run my own businesses since 1987 so I know a thing or two about what you or we have to go through on a daily basis. I've also lost everything and made it back, so you could say that I've had my ups and d...

Servant Leadership (Now more than ever a way forward for PNG)

Image
What Kind of Leader Do We Want for Our Nation? Leadership is the ability of an individual or group to influence and guide others—whether in an organization, society, or team. Among the many leadership styles, servant leadership stands out as one that aligns closely with our Melanesian values and the example set by Jesus Christ. According to Stauffer and Maxwell (2020), servant leadership prioritizes the needs and well-being of others. In governance and public service, this means leaders who are committed to serving the people, putting their needs first, and fostering unity. Jesus exemplified servant leadership by living among the people, sharing their experiences, and empowering them to reach their full potential. This selfless approach is the kind of leadership our nation needs to rediscover. Our forefathers embodied these values, striving for a united Papua New Guinea rather than focusing on tribal, village, or provincial interests. Their gestures of unity—like calling eac...

The Foundation of a Fulfilled Life

Image
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” Matthew 12:35 Right Believing Leads to Right Living: The Foundation of a Fulfilled Life Life is an intricate interplay of thoughts, beliefs, and actions. At the heart of this dynamic lies a profound truth: what we believe shapes the way we live. Our beliefs are not merely passive ideas—they are the compass that directs our decisions, behaviors, and ultimately, our destiny. When we embrace the principle that right believing leads to right living, we unlock the potential for a life of purpose, peace, and prosperity. 1. The Power of Belief Beliefs form the foundation of our mindset and perception of the world. Whether we realize it or not, they influence every choice we make. Positive, empowering beliefs propel us forward, while limiting or negative beliefs act as unseen barriers to our growth. For instance, believing in one’s inherent worth...

My Mother's Story (Mercia Paliou)

Image
On this International Woman's Day, I wanted to share my mum's story on her journey and her aspirations in life. To also give us a glimpse into what life was like back then and what they did to build the young PNG nation. I would not be where I am today if she did not first embark on her own journey of education, career marriage and life.   My mother's journey began in her village of Dogur in the Dagua LLG of the East Sepik Province. She was born on the 6th of September 1947. She already had 5 older siblings and she was the 5th born with 2 others after her. Born to parents who were subsistence farmers their lives revolve around fishing, gardening, hunting and gathering food to feed the family. A typical village day would consist of women going to the garden, to work on their vegetables patches whilst the man would go hunting/setting traps for bandicoot or fishing in the small creeks, rivers or the sea. Their stable diet is sago so each family has their own sago plots in th...
