The Entrepreneur’s Journey

The joy of being your own boss is unmatched, yet there will be moments when you question whether this path is truly for you. The road is not easy, but every sale is a blessing and every inquiry an opportunity to grow. Gratitude should accompany each step, because business is not just about transactions — it is about building trust, honesty, and lasting relationships.

Build your enterprise on integrity. Let trust and honesty shine through in your quality, pricing, and delivery, right up until the product reaches your customer’s hands. Success is not about overnight riches, but about creating a legacy — something your children can inherit and continue long after you are gone.

Treat your business with love and passion. Nurture it as you would a child: with care, patience, and dedication. Keep your financial records accurate and detailed, monitor your spending, and aim to grow sales without compromising fairness. Price wisely — make your products affordable while ensuring sustainability.

Sell what you believe in. If you wouldn’t buy it yourself, don’t expect others to. Authenticity resonates, and customers will feel the passion behind what you offer. If you lack knowledge in areas like sales, finance, logistics, or marketing, take advantage of free online courses, seek advice from experienced people, and identify your gaps so you can work to fill them. Growth requires effort — don’t wait for opportunities, create them.

Be responsible. Pay your taxes, renew your IPA registration, and respect both your business and your customers. Discipline and respect will always bring rewards. Motivate yourself daily, believe in your vision, and surround yourself with positivity. Face reality with courage, but speak life into your situation.

Innovation is key. Keep evolving, keep pivoting, and never give up. If one idea fails, try another. Persistence will eventually bring results — not instantly, but surely.

And above all, pray. When challenges arise, bring them before God. Let Him guide, strengthen, and direct your path. With faith, resilience, and integrity, your entrepreneurial journey will be blessed.

Toana Dei & Meri Blouse

On April 28 1978, the government declared that Friday should be set aside as a national dress day.  Citizens were encourage to wear their cultural wear to work or school. The day was referred to as Toana day. The thinking behind that day was to encourage cultural embracement and initiate a national wear which in time will take on its style and become the national wear for contemporary PNG.  Toana is from the motuan language 3rd widely spoken language in PNG and it means a symbol or a sign. A fitting word to signify the day. I am taking up this space again to feature one piece of unique clothing that has come to make its mark in PNG known as the Meri Blouse.Little did they envisage what the meri blouse would become to PNG woman.And meri blouse was introduce by Missionaries to help cover bare breast woman in the colonial days.
