Tis… the Season to be a blessing

Have you ever asked yourself the question why do I celebrate Christmas? Christmas will come across to all of us with its own meaning and purpose. In the Christian world Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus Christ. The greatest gift anyone could give to the human race was in the form of the son of God Jesus Christ. As the bible says God became man and came to the earth to live his life.

So Christmas centers on giving. What can we give this Christmas? Do our children need more toys? Do we need more clothes? Or do I need that electric gadget for my kitchen? So many times we want to receive but are we willing to give? God gave his son to redeem us from sin and give us eternal life and that is the ultimate. Are we willing to give his son a place in our hearts this Christmas?

Friends and family make this season of Christmas a time to give not only gifts to those you love and care about but give to others. Bless those around you it may be a gift or it may be your time and effort to help someone else do a task. Whatever it is give and bless others this Christmas and if you have not given much time and thought to God throughout this year? Take time to ask him back into your life and allow him to give you his ultimate gift his son Jesus Christ.

On this International Woman's Day, I wanted to share my mum's story on her journey and her aspirations in life. To also give us a glimpse into what life was like back then and what they did to build the young PNG nation. I would not be where I am today if she did not first embark on her own journey of education, career marriage and life. My mother's journey began in her village of Dogur in the Dagua LLG of the East Sepik Province. She was born on the 6th of September 1947. She already had 5 older siblings and she was the 5th born with 2 others after her. Born to parents who were subsistence farmers their lives revolve around fishing, gardening, hunting and gathering food to feed the family. On April 28 1978, the government declared that Friday should be set aside as a national dress day. Citizens were encourage to wear their cultural wear to work or school. The day was referred to as Toana day. The thinking behind that day was to encourage cultural embracement and initiate a national wear which in time will take on its style and become the national wear for contemporary PNG. Toana is from the motuan language 3rd widely spoken language in PNG and it means a symbol or a sign. A fitting word to signify the day. Pricing is something that most of us take for granted. Am not sure if you really think about price apart from when there is a price increase. Have you ever wondered how people price goods and services and what should be the correct way of pricing your items.
