Melanesian Leadership in contemporary PNG

Since the passing of my dad, I find myself reflecting on the type of leadership he portrayed during his lifetime. So it got me to do a bit of research into Melanesian Leadership and do we still hold on to the values as portrayed by our fathers. In this contemporary Papua New Guinea we seem to be loosing sight of our Melanesia leadership. Well that is my opinion. One of our greatest philosophers Mr. Bernard Narakobi said are we seeing ourselves through the mirror of the western world or are we seeing ourselves through our own cultural identity. Our Melanesian leadership is one that is built on trust and respect for fellow men a leadership that ensures that needs of survival are met and that people live together in Harmony. When disputes arose they are settle fair and square in the presence of all the elders. Leaders earn the respect and trust of the tribe and village by meeting certain criteria depending on what it is in different settings. Leaders are chosen and not self created. Do we

My Melanesian Perspective on Valentine's day😍

Hi it's just a week after Valentine's day and am still wondering about the significance of the day in PNG. I mean seriously do our ancestors celebrate Valentine's day it got me thinking to how love is define by our ancestors. Do they come home and say "hey honey I love you I killed this pig for you this morning? My father came out of the pre colonial era and his love for my mum was basically ensuring that there is shelter for us his family and that food is on the table at all times, the needs of the kids are met plus  ensuring that his wife's family and his family are also looked after and that there is harmony in both families. When I went to school this western concept of love and expectations of a male buying you gift or giving you flowers was something that girls long for. A lovely gesture for a male to do that to a female in the western world and part of their culture. I dont really understand it but I respect their society. However it does bring conflicting

Interior Design

I have always wanted to do interior design. I find mixing and matching colours and creating exciting colour schemes in buildings another growing hobby in me. So with a old abandon chair I decided to try my hand at doing just that. Do you have a certain place in the house where you like to curl up read a book or just unwine and chill after a day's work? Well you can create that place with whatever you have. All you need is just some bit of furniture which you can salvage and throw a rug and some cushions and walla you have it.  I salvage this chair and decided  to bring it to life with a green rug and some donut cushions and my Milne Bag basket adding that PNG touch to the setting. In my basket is my bible, devotions, tablet novels and other books  on handy for a reach whenever I need it. It has grown on me and has become my special space.
